Galangal Roots

  • GALANGAL ROOTS : Galangal roots are cousins of the ginger vegetable. Both are rhizomes, which are fresh or dried roots, that grow horizontally rather than vertically. The origin of the galangal roots go back to Southeast Asia, especially in Indonesia, where it is used as an ingredient to make the national dish, nasi goreng. Tastewise, galangal roots are more peppery and bitter than ginger, and are added to various Malaysian, Thai and Chinese dishes.
